Memorial Biography

Raymond was born July 2, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed with his family by his side, fighting cancer, on February 15, 2019 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents Rolf J. Berg and Verna A. Berg and his brother Robert J. Berg. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan E. Berg, daughter Kelly Kerr (Chris), grandsons, Shane and Ethan. Daughter Jennifer Rowland (Brett), grandsons Jake and Timothy. Son Dylan Berg (Jerry). Sisters Barbara Rago (Steve) and Shirley Kallan (Steve) along with several nephews and a great niece. He graduated from Morristown High School, Morristown, N.J. He became a tool and die maker and opened his own machine shop in New Jersey. Raymond served countless hours for his community being a volunteer fireman and worked himself up the ranks and graduated from Morris County Fire School, Morris County, N.J., to become Chief and a Lifetime Member of Schooley's Mountain Fire Protection, Schooley's Mountain, N.J He also was a member of the New Jersey Fire Chief's Association. He loved boating at the Jersey Shore and upon moving to Florida he became a yacht salesman and opened Beacon Light Yacht Sales in Jensen Beach, Fl. He then went to work for Florida Power and Light for 22 years as an outage machinist and traveled around the country. His hobbies included his passion to restore 1950s and 1960s classic cars and driving, dragging and showing them. He was proud to win the 1993 Super Chevy Show top prize. He was a member of the Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520. He also enjoyed going to concerts with the East Street band and being backstage with the band. He also enjoyed skiing, camping with family and friends. He loved dancing with his wife and showing some fancy footwork. He always had a kind word and a big smile for everyone. He will greatly be missed by everyone who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Deer Creek RV and Golf Country Club 42749 Highway 27 Davenport, FL. Additionally, on March 23, 2019 at his home in Port St. Lucie, FL. In Lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Dogs and Cats Forever, Inc. Ft. Pierce, FL http://dogsandcatsforever.com/monetary/
